Just curious what everyone thinks about Archuleta. I think he seems like he would be an effective counterpart to Collins. I went to ASU and saw him play in college. He is smart, can really hit and his fitness is second to none. I would prefer to see him come to GB instead of that dude from Seattle. I thought I read somewhere that the 'Skins were interested in him though.

Anyway, I think he's "Packer Material" and would look good in Green & Gold.

Not near the player he used to be because of injuries. We did the old guy safety thing last year along with the old guy guard thing.

Actually I think we'd be better off with MM from Seattle. He's younger, faster and more upside. Plus he'll be cheaper.

TT is looking to bring in young players with potential who cost less than old vets on the downside of their career.

I like AA(he has the initial scheme going for him).

I seen his workout routine online, and he is super strong, and I was impressed with him ever since. He seems like he works really really hard, and I think he would be a 'packer person.'

Id really like him to be opposite Nick.

2006 scouting report
Strengths: Is aggressive and fills hard against the run. Has good speed and a great motor. Gets through traffic and to the ball quickly. Is fearless, explodes into hits and forces some fumbles. Shows good range and burst to the ball in zone coverage. Will punish receivers over the middle. Anticipates snaps and is an efficient and effective blitzer.
Weaknesses: Can be too aggressive and lacks recognition skills. Misses some tackles going for the big hit. Lacks fluid hips and ideal lateral mobility in man-to-man coverage. Doesn’t have great ball skills.

Bottom Line: Archuleta’s back problems and discipline are ongoing concerns, but he excels in run support and holds his own in zone coverage.

Sporting News has Archuleta as the #2 safety in free agency right behind Hope of Pittsburgh. He is considered to be better in coverage than Manuel, which is a key in this defense.

guys come on now adam archuleta is only 28 hes only played for 5 seasons

I agree - he's probably peaking right now, with about 3 definitely great years ahead of him - and he's better than Woodson, or a few of the others now out there, because of money, or whatever...

I wouldn't go any older than him, tho'.....

We're posting a thread at IPB about all of the FA's.... here's the read we copied from Adam Shefter, analyst, with an "Around the League" page you guys should track....

St. Louis safety Adam Archuleta will visit Washington today. He also is scheduled to visit Chicago on March 13.

This was as of yesterday... I agree, if he's in Chicago, why not Green Bay, when it's only a 3-4 hour ride and they can stop in Milwaukee and grab some great grub, along the way.

Adam Schefter's "Around the League" reports and commentaries can be seen regularly on NFL Total Access.

John Clayton? He seems to be about as reliable as Michael Irvin, without all the smack.

How can you say he is old or not as good as Manuel. You guys need to get real. There is no comparison between AA and MM.

Again, I will not bash TT at this point but my fear is that he is falling too much in love with his old players.

You're right tk......AND we overpayed for him.

are those numbers from that article confirmed yet? if it's accurate he must've blackmailed somebody to get that contract, maybe Ted's daughter has a thing for safeties?

We certainly didn't overpay for Manuel. The Vikings gave Ryan Longwell the same contract and a million more in signing bonus..

Freeman and Little were way passed the prime of their careers. Manuel is in it and has some nice upside. I think it was a good signing.
