I play the drums. So far I've only played in a crappy rock/metal band, where the bass player said he could, but couldn't play anything, the guitarist is was a real guitar hero (no sarcasm), and I with decent drumming. Mostly it was just shredding a guitar with mid-tempo drums being played in the background, LOL.

Gosh Cheesey - was Kumbaya next on the set list? :D

Seriously, sounds like lots of fun. Heather claims I sing ok so we have fun at home - mostly country. We gotten the guts to go onstage a couple of times and enjoyed it.

LOLOL!!! No....that wasn't on the list of "requests!" But i did sing rock AND country! I also do a MEAN "Ice Ice Baby" rap! (I think i sent you a copy of it on the cassette i sent you and Hedder)
Back when that Vanilla Ice song came out, they had a recording studio set up at Wisconsin State Fair. You paid like 6 bucks, and could go in and record a song. My friends had heard me do the rap, and they pretty much forced me to go into the studio to record it. They had HUGE speakers set up outside the studio, so the crowd could hear what was being recorded. I couldn't see outside the studio. So when i came out, a huge crowd had gathered to see WHO was doing "Ice Ice Baby". I heard "Thats the guy???" I think i shocked them a bit. They probably expected to see some 16 year old kid, dressed in baggy pants, and they got ME! Even the guy running the studio was like "Great job man!! Best i ever heard!"
I was laughing my butt off!

I am a musician, of the professional variety. I'm an R&B singer - I've played in about a billion bands, done bunches of session work, etc.

My best friend is a bit of a metalhead, so I've probably seen a lot of bands you like. :D

Unfortunately, that's how a lot of shredders like it. They want to be front and center, and everyone else in the background. They don't want anyone to upstage them.

Very cool. Wife loves R&B and to me, it's good music to just have on in the background, like I do sometimes with Celtic music. R&B voices generally are head and shoulders above most other forms of popular music, although Metal voices often give R&B some competition.

Hats off to classically trained musicians.

I've seen the Houston Symphony on many occasions. The best though was seeing the great Van Cliburn play Tchaikovsky's 1st, which is in my opinion the greatest piano piece ever written.

I'm a huge Tchaikovsky fans, and argue continuously with my father who is convinced that Beethoven is better than Tchaikovsky. Beethoven was great, don't get me wrong. But Tchaikovsky is the greatest composer who ever lived.

I'm not good with notes and scales either. I play guitar by ear. I took piano lessons for two years, so I know the basics of reading music, but that's it. I can't even stand reading tabs. I thought about taking lessons, just to learn things the right way, but I don't have the patience.

(was visualizing Cheesey singing "I'm a little bit country. I'm a little bit rock 'n' roll.")

Some of you :cane: folks would know what song I'm referring to.

That is so cool that you are classically trained, did you ever go to college? I bet all you would have to do is pick up one of these instruments and it would all come back to you.
