I just traded a first generation iphone (paid $20) for a ER Armantino single shot 12 gauge shotgun. The guy also threw in a box of shells and told me he bought it brand new at Gander Mountain and has shot it twice.

    Good trade?

LOL, random is OK as long as it's not spam!!!

Looks like the guy you traded to got the short end of the stick. The shotgun has to be worth way more than the 1st G iPhone.

Depends if you like to shoot guns or talk on the phone, I guess.

But the phone is a 1st G (really old in terms of iPhones) and the shotgun is a 12 gauge (pretty powerful weapon, louder than hell too) and basically brand new. Plus some shells!

Monitarily, it sounds like the shotgun is the better deal. However, I don't shoot guns but I talk about shooting on the phone. (joke intended)

I'd say the phone was worth about $50 and the gun about $85-100 at best. It's a really nice gun just super basic. I never used the iphone for anything more than an ipod anyways.

Perhaps 20 years down the road the 1st generation I phone will be a very valuable collectible, while the shotgun will just be a $75 used single shot shotgun with a $3 box of cheap shells. Look at what the older Atari games and other older electronics are bringing.

The problem is will a used iphone that was a must have and there is over a million still bring in the big bucks, even if it has a high chance of not surviving that long. If the iPhone was a one shot device then yes it may be worth more in 20 years, but I don't think so.

If you use the shot gun, can kill something edible and eat it, I think its worth it. Or if you use it to get rid of some stress its worth it.

How can trading one thing that doesn't cause any death or destruction for something that does be considered a good trade?
    I hate guns. A lot.

I will trade you a toothpick for your car?

Cars kill many more people per year than guns.

When cars kill, it is, for the most part, an accident. Not sure what the percentage is but I would believe that more deaths via guns are intential rather than by accident.

Truth: someone tried to kill me with a car 3 years ago. Was charged with 3 counts of assault with deadly weapon. They hired high dollar attorney and my DA screwed the pooch and screwed up the hearing. Guy must have got several other cases confused and asked me the wrong questions. Charges were dropped.

Throw out wars and lifestyle choices and the numbers of gun murders goes way down.

I definately agree with your last statement. And I'm very glad that that person was not successful in killing you. I am sorry to hear that the said person (probably a Bears fan) came out smelling like a rose. Like the screwing I got in my divorce, some things are best forgotten.

I'll take your trade but only if it's a clean toothpick.

It's tempting for me to get up on the soapbox because there are things I hate about cars as well, but I think I'll just leave this one alone.
