On the NFL News area I gave information on the new lions head coach. Already people are starting to talk smack about how they are going to suck again next year. Last time I checked 3 out of 4 of the teams in our division had new coaches and none of us had any idea what they will do for our teams. I do know that all 3 teams are full of talent and it all depends on how that talent is utilized as to how the teams will perform.

Say what you want about Detroit, but it has 3 good recievers who have underperformed, a qb who has underperformed but improved greatly after spending some time on the bench, a running back who was too injured last year to make a difference but the year before had made the pro bowl alternate as a rookie, an amazing defensive line, a great cornerback, and solid tight ends.

It has been said by alot of people in and around the NFL that if the Lions ever live up to their potential they are going to be SCARY. Rod Marinelli is best known for developing young players and getting them to play up to or past everyones expectations. Wll we be better than last year? Almost definitely. Will we be better than the teams in our division? That all depends on how well their new coaches put things together. Am I willing to write off next years nfc north rivals before this years superbowl has been played? Not a chance. Hopefully we are all witnessing the birth of the new toughest division in the NFL. Good luck to all NFL north teams in 2006.

The lions have 4 years of top ten draft picks. It's about time some of them did something.

It wouldn't break my heart if they traded Joey Harrington and Charles Rogers, but I damn sure wouldn't trade Roy Williams or Mike Williams.

Do you have a strange habit of asking a question only to answer it yourself? Most definitely.

J/K big3...I think the Lions have as good of a chance in the division as anybody. New coaches all around except in Chicago where they hopefully disappear back to the bottom where they belong...

It has nothing to do with the Lions' head coach, it has everything to do with them having Joey Heatherton at QB and Matt Millen running the show.

I keep hoping that Joey "pink pants" Harrington will be gone next year, and supposedly Marinelli is going to run the whole show now. I like this qoute from his presser. "There is one voice for discipline: mine. There is one voice in leadership: mine. I'll coach coaches. There will be accountability at all stops in that building, and that's how you start growing."

He said he's going to coach every player like a "starter" too. I liked that comment. He sounds legit but they need to fix the front office before they do anything serious IMO.

you can really never rule anyone out,as you say three teams in our division are starting out with new persanell, and we all can look like the bears with the teams they had this year, after all they say we have an easy season ahead of us,well the bears had it and is that why they lost in thde playoffs,we you are starting out with new coaches it will tough to say who will be good untill they play games, and you see how the players perform out on the field will be intersesting.

I wouldn't write them off.. You never know what will happen in the league from one year to the next, who would have thought the Packers defense would improve to #7 but they would fall to 4-12 thanks to tons of injuries this year? Also, who would have thought Minnesota would play with their heads completely up their A$$'s until it was too late to catch the Bears, of which who on earth would have thought they would do as well as they did, though I attribute a lot of that to the fact the rest of the division crapped on themselves this season..

But always full of surprises and next year will be as well.

Oh my god I've heard that joke for 20 years. Why doesn't Grand Rapids have a professional football team? Because if they did, Detroit would want one too.
