I wouldn't say they squandered the season. They overachieved everyones expectations and lost to a much better team today.

PC, I hope you're right. I don't know if I can handle another year of Bear fans having more to smack about then us lol

they were riding on the defenses shoulders all season. playoff game #1 - defense no shows, they lose. SHOCKER! And lovie smiths jacket pissed me off as much as Jimmy Johnsons hair in the studio!

    AMEN on both accounts.

You know what the Bear's got out of this season that the Packers didn't though.... a worse draft pick :)

(Yeah yeah they won the NFC North for the first time ever, but what a crazy powerful group of teams it was...)

Here are a few other things that the Bears got this season that the Packers did not....
    *A winning record
*Coach of the year (who was not fired by the way)
    *Defensive player of the year
    *Six pro bowlers
    *A 1,300 yard rusher
*A rookie QB who not only got to play in 15 real live games but finished with a winning record (only the 3rd time in NFL history) and did not lead the league in picks.

*An upcoming season with no concerns about resigning any starters.

    Kyle sucked balls.

yes rookies get slack, but lets not confuse not losing with winning. thats what Orton did.

he won't see another snap as long as Grossman is semi-healthy.

It has to be somewhat troubling for the Bears though. The home team on Divisional playoff weekend is one of the biggest locks in pro sports and the Bears have lost at home twice on that weekend.

I kind of expected the Bears to lose this one, but I didn't expect them to lose the way they did with Carolina outplaying that defense that badly. In the long run this experience will be good for the Bears - remember that most of those guys haven't ever been in the playoffs.

Yeah, I'm still up in the air about the McCarthy signing. He's not one of those "proven" guys like Lovie Smith. I mean, look at what Coach Smith has done for the Bears already...had the #1 defense in the NFL and choked it off in the playoffs. I don't know about you, but I don't think teams play for "Defensive Player of the Year" or "Coach of the Year". Neither team won the big trophy....

I don't think that winning coach of the year is all that great. It usually means that you won more games than anyone thought you would.
I would have given it to Bill Belichick. He kept the Patriots focused all year when they had many reasons to roll over.

We DO have the "Yeah hey Milwaukee Polka" though! (I think thats the name) It was made by some guys in Chicago.........i heard it ONCE when i was living in northern Wisconsin back in 1989. It cuts down Milwaukee and Wisconsin in general, and had me laughing like crazy!
Some of the words go something like this:
Yeah hey polka boy go home and suck a beer,
yeah hey bratwurst head, go drive your old John Deere
Yeah hey, keep your women away, the smell will make us cryyyyy!
Hey there ho there yeah hey hey, stay in Milwaukee and die!

    Then it goes on:
Hey come on now Wisconsin, we hope you'll take a joke,
cause it it weren't for us in Illinios, your state may just be broke.
Ah, what da heck do we know, we're just Chicagoans,
and we'll meet you all next summer, at County Stadium!

The song ends with a big BURP!!!
I wish i could get a copy of it......it was REALLY funny!
(I know.....i SHOULD be OFFENDED! But it was just too darn FUNNY!!!)

Hey Cheesey... Just find out what the NAME of the ARTIST was, or the NAME of the SONG, and I'll look it up on my Music Match... Should be fairly easy... (I think)

Naw just for one year because we know the bears will be there the next decade. You see we only spend a year there while the bears are there for a decade or more.

It's going to take more than a year to rebuild and put the packers back on top. Truth hurts.
