I'm surprised by how many linebackers made the roster, but it makes sense considering that Zombo might be out for a little while. I'm glad that So'oto and Lattimore made the team. They both looked really good in the preseason.

I wouldn't be surprised if they kept some the of the LB's for trade purposes, also gives them some leeway with OL moves.

Was hoping to see Bush cut, and Gurley making the team. I think we have a ton depth and don't think I will try to follow anyone and hope anyone makes the team next year, the Packers are just too good.

Smithson is on IR does that mean he is on the team?

I also see us adding another OL and possibly cutting a LB (B. Jones, etc.).

IR players don't count against the 53 man roster, but technically yes he is part of the team

wow..i'm surprised they didn't keep Harrell too.. :(

Can they only have 2QB's?? Seems like they should have at the very least 3....

I would assume they're hoping to slide Harrell, Gurley and one of Ross/Gordy to the practice squad.

I was surprised to see M.D. Jennings made the team and disappointed to see Quinn get traded. Anyone know if Ryan Taylor or Crabtree have been getting reps at FB?

Just look at last year. Until Aaron started having concussion issues, we had Harrell on the Practice squad. Why keep him on the 53 man roster when you can keep him without penalty on the PS when you can pull him back up to the main roster anytime during the season? Don't be at all surprised to hear Harrell sign back on the squad until something happens to Rodgers/Flynn.

No clue why we kept Pat Lee. Granted, he will probably just end up on IR anyways.

Same here, I just don't see what he brings that a Josh Gordy couldn't provide. And with Gordy, you have upside. Pat Lee is who he is.

No surprise McDonald got cut. He didn't have a good night against the Chiefs.

Hopefully this boost in speed(10 DBs) and power(10 LB) = better Special Teams play. The skill players will really need to stay healthy and the repeat journey begins Thursday.

Brad jones' dead *** should not be on the team. I'm sure one of these cuts will be back next week when Jones goes on IR for something. No love for Lee either.

I really thought Gordy would have made it over Lee, I have wanted Lee to excel since he was drafted so I'm keeping fingers crossed. I wanted to see Gurley, but when you consider that some of our TEs play as tall WRs I'm really okay with it. We might witness an evolution of the passing game with multiple TEs the likes of which the NFL has never seen.

As a couple stories say, the final roster may still not be set. And like many teams, the Packers may look to add a vet after the first game because contracts aren’t guaranteed for the season if the player isn’t on the opening day roster. More likely in the Packers case if an interior OL backup they like is available, they’ll sign him ASAP. At least I hope they do. If they do sign a vet and/or win a waiver wire request, I’d guess Jones, Lattimore, and MD Jennings would be most vulnerable.

Since the Packers only have one experienced interior OL in Dietrich-Smith (who they waived in favor of McDonald before last season)I hope they will add another. There is some speculation they may add a safety but their top three are very, very good and in addition to MD Jennings, Bush and Lee can play there, too.

Thompson and company may be working on another trade. Getting a conditional draft pick for Schlauderaff (probably a 7th if he’s on the roster for a certain length of time) and a late round pick for Johnson (6th or 7th) was a product of a deep roster. Don’t discount the value of those late round picks – Ryan Taylor, CJ Wilson, and Matt Flynn were picked in the last round.

I have to smile at the notion of Bush getting waived. Like it or not, right now he is the best or second best STs player, the #4 CB and the #5 safety. As I’ve posted before I hope House overtakes him for that #4 CB spot but I don’t think he has yet. I think Lee made the team with his performance against the Chiefs.

I got 8 players wrong in my final roster guess so far. I guessed Harrell, Gurley, Schlauderaff, and Gordy would make it and Crabtree, Jones, Lattimore and Lee would be waived. I never would have guessed 10 LBs and 10 DBs. I hit on only keeping one FB, Dietrich-Smith over McDonald (who never played even decent in pre season games IMO), Francois and (of course) So’oto making the 53, and Jennings being the fourth safety.

IMO Thompson is smart to pay more attention to keeping players other teams would claim rather than sticking to hard and fast “rules” about keeping a certain number of players at certain positions. They go from keeping “too many” FBs (3) to keeping “too few” (1) because that’s what their talent dictates.

BTW, the players put on IR may be paid an injury settlement and released. One of the articles said the thinking behind waiving Harrell is McCarthy wasn’t going to activate a third QB on game day anyway (teams can activate 46 this year and the #3 QB rule being “kind of” active is gone).

Was glad to see Quinn Johnson traded. That's a win-win. Good move by TT.

I don't think we're seeing the final 53 man roster. They held off formal anouncements of their cuts untill after the deadline, because the 2 trades went down to the wire. My guess is TT still has o-line help, via watvers or trade, that he's looking at.

Judging by how he filled in during the SB I am glad to see Bush on the roster. Always nice to keep a captain.

I actually never heard much debate about him making the roster. Just seems people are bitter still. He has really come along.

I'm one of those that wanted Gurley. Gurley has upside and I don't see Lee bringing jack----. Not surprised they kept Bush. I'll take Bush over Lee at this point because he does play special teams. Bush can't play DB any better than Lee. Yeah I know he made a play in the Super Bowl but a blind squirrel will find and acorn once in a while.

Anyway I'm mostly happy with the roster. I wanted Gurley and Ryan Taylor and I got one of my wishes.
