Rep Power: 17 | | LOL! My ideal half time show would last longer than the game! =)
I was thinking in terms of general popularity, relevancy and stage presence. While I understand some people won't be a fan of say, Korn or Metallica, both bands put on an incredible show. It would certainly get people amped and keep the atmosphere kicking some major ass! |

Yes I'm a fan of The Who. But only of the original lineup which included Keith Moon and John Entwistle, who have passed on to the great gig in the sky.
I don't have any recordings after they replaced Moon and I probably never will.
To me, they just aren't the same without Moon who was THE rock drummer. The guy was amazing. Ever see concert footage of him? It's like he played every drum and cymbal at the same time.
Anyway, I'll probably tune in just to see what their like but as for who they are now, I can take or leave them. I would have liked to have seen them in the 60's-70's.
What do you think? | Isn't the lead guitarist the pedophile who got caught with child porn, only to declare he was using the "material" in a research project???
Yikes. |

Now it's just old and boring. The NFL needs to learn that in order to expand it's brand, it needs to cater to a younger crowd. The Who, while an awesome rock band back in the day, aren't on many young people's play list these days.
I can think of 5 bands right off the top of my head who are A) still relevant to today and B) would put on an awesome half time performance and are main stream enough to cater to a decent crowd:
Korn
Foo Fighters
Metallica
Green Day
Red Hot Chili Peppers
Of course I have some personal favorites as well, but most don't fit the "Huge band" mantra like the above 5 do. | Man I have literally said the SAME thing!! These past Super Bowl halftime shows have been soooo boring. I understand The Who, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, etc. were all huge back then, but sorry it's not working in the 21st century.
Now I'm glad MTV isn't doing halftime shows because all we would see is that rap "music" with all the Lil (insert name here) "singers." But I do think we need to have more modern bands. Foo Fighters and Red Hot Chili Peppers are probably my top 2 who I think should perform. They have music that can appeal to the whole family, imo. I'm sure there are others out there that have the same kind of appeal.
I think it would be awesome if they let the fans decide who gets to perform. Maybe have some kind of poll or something idk.
I seriously don't want to look at 66 year old Mick Jagger jumping around in a very tight, small t-shirt. I think I'll pass.

Rep Power: 6 | | The most laughable thing about the NFL trotting out these bands from the sixties, is when the crowd of teens and twenty-somethings rush the stage like they actually know who these old farts are. Their enthusiasm seems so staged.
The NFL might have the biggest stage for a show, but they have no idea what people listen to. |

If he wants to play the halftime show every year, the NFL should sign him up.
C) I normally go, umm, what Najeh Davenport did in that laundry basket during the halftime show anyways, so I almost always miss most of it. (And the answer is yes, I schedule that. Can't go during the game, can't go during the commercials. That leaves halftime. Lol.)
D) If I got to choose i'd schedule Taylor Swift for the following reason: she would come out, get like 12 seconds into her first song, and then Kanye West would interrupt her and boot her off the stage. He would then perform Heartless. Laughs would be had.
