For 5 years Brett threatens to retire, even whips up tears v. Bears and retirement. Every media outlet airs "Brett top 10 memories" and a "please don't go brett, we love you soooooo much" poll...hmmmm
Reports in ny that Brett wouldn't partake in team activities, very aloof and above the team...
Anyone think he'd do a 1-day re-sign with the packers so he could retire a packer like other vets have done in the past? My hunch is no since there appears to still be a lot of resentment on his part.
Rodgers looked awesome...he was able to sell the safety really well on the play action on Jenning's 56 yarder, and had a nice pump fake to help Driver on the negated 68 yard TD...defense for the most part looked good, Grant looks to be a lot more than a one year wonder...great start!
It seems like the guy can't go one game w/out a false start, and then he opened up the 1st quater in stellar fashion with (if I'm not mistaken) 2 holds and an illegal formation. True he was facing Allen, but c'mon...you're a 10(??) year vet!
I'm not sure that this issue is necessarily dead. I got the sense he retired because he's bitter that nobody is willing to pay what he thinks he deserves. If someone were to step up in an act of desperation, I bet he'd be willing to come back...with that said, if he has that mindset, I don't...
Re: Favre: Thompson wanted my *** out of the door.
the ****ipedia link was hilarious, esp. the madden man-crush insinuation.
You said it well Lare, and good divorce analogy...both TT and Brett are at fault, but it's water under the bridge now so let it die. It's so sad to see him still crying...
I LOVE this pick...
debatably the most NFL ready QB other than maybe Henne, and with Rodgers seemingly injury prone, just what we need. Accurate, and someone who has shown top 15 pick talent.
I have faith in AR for the most part, but this makes me feel very relieved about the qb...
I was driving thru Philly today coming back from the Penn Relays and on a local sports show they were discussing how it was expected that Lito would be traded this weekend, and that the Packers were a front runner...
This doesn't sound very TT-like, and I haven't heard much other chatter...
Thanks Trom for pointing out the most important rodgers attribute which I forgot...his 'stache! It's like Samson's hair...with it he can take down mythical beasts, crush architectural wonders, and slay mighty NFL defenses!
Provided that he doesn't shave it off, and he plays like we've seen...
he's a raider instead. No offense RP, but this is one way to make sure he ends his career under the radar and with marginal stats. Oh well, he got about 15 mil in guaranteed $$$ so more power to him I guess
Javon a Raider
A. Rodgers 18/26 201 1 TD, 0 INT and 5 for 30 rushing
B. Favre 5/14 56 0 TDs, 2 INT
THose are the stats from the Dallas game.
Rodgers demonstrated the ability to manage a game, put some mustard on the ball, and scramble better than Brett has since his early 30s.
I understand a...
i agree with pack_in_black. My only concern w/ Rodgers is that he seems prone to injury, but as a back up, maybe you baby the scrapes on your knees or paper cuts a little more than if you're relied upon as the head cheese.
It's only one game, but he performed admirably against Dallas, showed...
